1、 Blanking clearance:

1. Definition:

Blanking clearance refers to the distance between the cutting edges of male and female dies. The single side gap is usually represented by "C", and the double side gap is usually represented by "Z".  


2. Principle of gap placement:

Due to blanking convex. There is a gap between the dies, so the punched product has a taper. The die clearance is placed according to the principle that the blanking size of the parts in the blanking die is the same as that of the female die, and the punching size of the parts is the same as that of the male die

3. Impact of clearance on blanking parts, blanking force and die life:

(1) The influence of clearance on the quality of the section of the blanking part:

When the gap is too small, a secondary shear will occur between the upper and lower cracks of the product, leaving a torn surface in the middle of the section of the product, while the two ends are bright strips, and the extruded burrs will appear on the end face.

When the gap is too large, the bright zone of the part will be reduced, the collapse angle and fracture slope will be increased, and the burr will be too big and thick to remove,


(2) Impact of clearance on dimensional accuracy:

When the clearance is large, the blanking size is larger than the die size and the punching hole diameter is smaller than the punch diameter due to the elastic recovery of the material after blanking.


(3) Impact of clearance on cutting force:

When the clearance is less than the reasonable clearance, the blanking force will increase.


(4) Impact of clearance on die life:

In order to improve the service life of the die, a larger die clearance value is generally used.
